While in Hawaii, I had been walking more than ever before and I was in a great deal of pain. Dr. Kimura invited me to his office for care for an aching back and my feet, which had been paralyzed when I was 6 years old. The doctor expressed confidence in his abilities to help my body. I was a bit uncertain and skeptical but he was so confident that I thought I would give it a chance. I still couldn’t move my feet after a couple visits, but I was introduced to something more important, 33 Principles of Chiropractic. From them I learned that my body has inborn intelligence and that, though I have some physical limitations, I still have much potential. After learning these concepts, I knew that by becoming a chiropractor I could serve mankind by removing interference to our body’s expression.

As a lifelong athlete, I had always taken the health and wellness of my body for granted. It wasn’t until I was in college and in so much back pain that I realized what a wonderful blessing the working body is. I attended Brigham Young University on a volleyball scholarship, and during my senior year we had an early morning practice where I swung at a ball and knew something was terribly wrong in my mid back. I couldn’t breath normally and had to hunch over while walking. I had a big match that night and was desperate to find out what was wrong with me. I turned to a local chiropractor and that afternoon I went in for my first visit. I left his office walking tall- my back was relieved of the pressure and pain and that night I had the match of my life that night!

Tina Damasco, Licensed Massage Therapist

Tina Damasco, LMT

Tina Damasco, LMT

My name is Christina Damasco, most people know me as Tina. I grew up on the East Coast in Pennsylvania. I earned an Associate in Applied Sciences in Hotel and Restaurant Management and spent 24 years in the Hospitality field some of those years in California to live near family. After a few years and an earthquake I decided that California was not my comfort. Being that I am from a large family, I was able to move to Arizona where my sister lived. I have been here for the past 18 years. All of my immediate family is now in the Southwest.

Gary Rowden, Structural Integrator & Massage Therapist

Gary Rowden, LMT

My path to becoming a Massage Therapist and Structural Integrator was a long traveled road. At 25 (1990) I had a back injury during a hiking trip on the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon. It was pain like I’ve never felt before. Like knives jabbing me in my hip bones and searing sharp electrical pains moving down my legs which also made my feet feel tingly and numb. The only choice it seemed doctors were giving me was pain pills and surgery, but I wanted no part of that. Being as stubborn as I was back then, I decided to bite the bullet and laid on my stepfather’s floor for about a month or so writhing and sobbing in horrible pain. There were no more tears left.

Mesa Chiropractor

Ruth Hallows and family

Having grown up in Southern California, I expect to be ahead of the crowd in health and wellness. That’s why I’m surprised I spent the first 20 years of my life thinking of chiropractors as consultants for back pain and accident victims.

My First Experience with Chiropractic

I first saw a chiropractor in Mesa, Arizona after my mother, sister and I were rear ended while on vacation. When I returned to school in San Diego, I transferred my care to a doctor in La Jolla. He took good care of me, counseled with me about diet and exercise habits and released me from care when my pain was gone. Had I not met Sam, my belief about chiropractic care might not have changed.Read more »

I am lucky I did meet him while I was in Arizona on another vacation. We married the following year and moved to Iowa with a 2 month old baby, just before our first anniversary. While I never experienced a “miracle”, one of the things I am most grateful for is chiropractic care during pregnancy. The common aches and pains of my changing body were lessened with regular care. Sam suggested exercises that improved my aching muscles and helped me prepare for the natural birth of our third child.

I enjoy helping Sam in the office on Saturdays and knowing that I help others through Balance Chiropractic. I love to play at home with my children, Jenny, Jackson and Anna, and prepare meals for our family. I like to read and to try new recipes, so I often read cookbooks and magazines for home chefs. I can’t wait until baby Anna wants to help in the kitchen.

We look forward to meeting you and finding out how we can help you. Give us a call at (480) 830-0175!
